Service Description

Filling the gap between what it is like to be struggling with physical illness and additional emotional distress brought on by the physical pain or diagnosis. Here, there is space for validation of current physical and emotional symptoms and exploration of regaining mastery of control with mind-body awareness and state of being for overall health and wellness. You will be provided with additional emotional support and and provided various sessions specifically tailored to meet your needs with any necessary modifications or accommodations needed. The key to success is not trying, it is doing. To maintain mental health, we sometimes have to combine the practical and the spiritual to learn how to prepare a wellness plan in case the pain returns, a relapse, or new diagnosis emerges. Beyond our wildest fears, it is possible to regain control, and take the reins, learning how to manage your stress, alleviate our anxiety that will assist with pain management, mood elevation, and fostering relaxation. It is important to become mindful and alert to certain feelings and events that can sometimes trigger or set off a relapse, pain, or returning uncomfortable symptomology. Here we can explore dialectial behavioral therapy approaches to increase self-awareness on your current situation: examining your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. There is a physiological connection between what we think or feel, that leads to a physical reaction. So everything is connected and deeply rooted with our emotional state and our behavioral reaction to certain life events or stressors which may sometimes manifest in the physical. You will be introduced to concepts rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy that will assist with your thought-rpcoess and how you manage your day to day routine, and art therapy assist with coping and developing an autobiographical visual narrative series to view the stages of your healing process. A mix of therapeutic educational counseling and a creative outlet for self-expression will take place here for you to experience where you are now and where you would like to be, examining your past and future self (to see what you would like before the pain and you past the pain, or you before a diagnosis vs. the diagnosis, or sobriety vs. addiction). We may not have control over what appears, but we have control how we react. As they say, life is not about the 10% of what happens to you, it is more about the 90% how you react and respond to it.
