Art Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety Recovery Toolkit and Stress-Reduction Action Plan
Service Description
Here we will address how anxiety is affecting various aspects of your life. You will be able to identify your stressors, warning signs, and triggers of anxiety from a mind-body awareness stance and learn how to reframe your thought-process in response to worrisome thoughts that cause us to react in different ways. You will also learn how to live with the anxiety as healing process until it subsides, to learn from it in itself, what it is there to teach you. You will be introduced to a process of observing, accepting, and letting go of these anxious thoughts. In addition, you will learn self-care strategies to reduce your anxiety and explore how anxiety relates to depression, through both mental health counseling and art-therapy integration. This dual therapeutic process is meant primarily to alleviate extreme worry and stress in your present day life, and acquire new tools to manage your anxiety. We explore the core of your anxiety, when it began, how it may have developed, and evolved over time without addressing stressors. If we keep avoiding emotional pain sometimes and bury our worries, it will eventually resurface in some form or another in the near future. You will learn the physiological reaction to stress, stress hormones, and how you can begin to identify and process your feelings, thoughts, and behavioral reactions in response to this "fight/flight" stress-mode. You will discover ways to manage your anxiety with various coping tools and strategies such as deep breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral strategies to use, and acts of self-care and loving-kindness towards yourself. You may develop your own personalized toolkit that is designed by you and for you.
